Otto is redefining how financial advisers work. We're building the copilot for wealth managers — an AI-powered platform that automates manual work like meeting transcription, report writing, onboarding, and client communications, freeing advisers to focus on what matters most: building relationships and delivering personalised advice.

Our mission is to modernise the wealth management industry, replacing outdated systems with intelligent, seamless workflows. We build high-leverage tools that let small teams have an outsized impact — both for our customers and within our own company.

About the role

We're looking for a Head of Engineering to lead and grow our engineering team as we scale. You'll own the technical direction of the platform and the culture of the team that builds it, working shoulder to shoulder with the founders.

As an early engineering leader, you'll shape not just what we build but how we build it. Joining Otto at this stage is a chance to lay the technical and cultural foundations for everything that comes next, as we scale across Europe and eventually the globe.

This role is based in London, with flexibility to work remotely.

Key responsibilities

• •Set and own the technical vision, architecture, and engineering roadmap.
• •Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
• •Establish engineering practices and standards, and a culture of quality and velocity.
• •Partner with the founders and product team on strategy and prioritisation.
• •Stay hands-on where it matters — from architecture reviews to critical code.

Qualifications

• •8+ years of engineering experience, including senior leadership of a team.
• •A proven track record shipping and scaling production systems.
• •Strong full-stack foundations across front end, back end, and infrastructure.
• •Experience hiring and building engineering teams from an early stage.
• •Excellent communication — able to align engineers, product, and execs.
• •You share our values: empathy, transparency, customer-centricity, and drive.

Preferred skills

We leverage AI heavily in our day-to-day development, but we ultimately value an engineering mindset and a considered approach. AI is a racecar that needs a skilled driver. Some of the technologies you will be working with:

• •TypeScript across the stack — React on the front end, Node.js/NestJS on the back end.
• •Cloud platforms, particularly GCP and Azure.

Desired skills

• •Experience leading teams in regulated or enterprise environments.
• •A background in AI/ML product development.
• •Experience setting up observability, CI/CD, and engineering operations from scratch.
• •You've been an early engineering leader at a high-growth startup.
