About the team

Otto is redefining how financial advisers work. We're building the copilot for wealth managers — an AI-powered platform that automates manual work like meeting transcription, report writing, onboarding, and client communications, freeing advisers to focus on what matters most: building relationships and delivering personalised advice.

Our mission is to modernise the wealth management industry, replacing outdated systems with intelligent, seamless workflows. We build high-leverage tools that let small teams have an outsized impact — both for our customers and within our own company.

We're a fast-growing, Sequoia-backed startup already making waves in wealth management, recently featured in the Financial Times for our pioneering work in Agentic AI.

About the role

We're looking for a talented Forward Deployed Engineer to provide white-glove deployment support for Otto's products in enterprise environments. You'll work between our development team and our customers, turning real-world needs into production systems.

As part of a lean founding engineering team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping both our product and our success. Joining Otto at this stage is a chance to grow rapidly with the company, help define our culture, and lay the foundations for everything we build next. Our ambition is to scale across Europe and eventually the globe, giving you exposure that will set your career on a rocket-like trajectory.

This is a hybrid role based in our London office two days a week, with occasional travel to customer sites.

Key responsibilities

  • •Build bespoke AI pipelines for document processing and agentic research.
  • •Create dynamic UIs that respond to each customer's particular needs and client base.
  • •Set up integrations with customer infrastructure and advise on best practices.
  • •Lead discovery work to ensure customer success throughout onboarding and beyond.

Qualifications

  • •At least 5 years of engineering experience.
  • •A skilled full-stack engineer with experience building applications in React and Node.js.
  • •Demonstrable experience working with distributed systems.
  • •Strong communication skills — equally comfortable with execs and developers.
  • •A clear grasp of how AI is changing software development, and you've already levelled up.
  • •Comfortable switching between back end, front end, and devops.
  • •Able to think about what to build, not just how — we're early stage.
  • •You share our values: empathy, transparency, customer-centricity, and drive.

Preferred skills

We leverage AI heavily in our day-to-day development to maximise productivity, but we ultimately value an engineering mindset and a considered approach. AI is a racecar that needs a skilled driver. Some of the technologies you will be working with:

  • •TypeScript across the stack — React on the front end, Node.js/NestJS on the back end.
  • •Cloud platforms, particularly GCP and Azure.

Desired skills

  • •Experience in regulated environments, including data residency and enterprise security requirements.
  • •Extensive experience with PostgreSQL.
  • •Experience with SSO/OAuth2 and managing third-party integrations.
  • •Experience building workflow and automation systems.
  • •Real experience deploying AI in enterprise environments — evals, LLM pipelines, document extraction.
  • •You've started a company before or worked at an early-stage startup.

What we offer

  • •A competitive salary and equity package.
  • •A scale-up atmosphere with full autonomy and the chance to grow and run large initiatives.
  • •An experienced founding team revolutionising financial back-office operations.
  • •A great group of colleagues and a strong culture built over the last year.
  • •An ethical company that believes corporations should proactively help build a better world.
  • •The freedom to be yourself and shape the way you work.
